Last week, the CDC released updated guidance regarding mask usage in fully vaccinated individuals. This guidance stated that fully vaccinated individuals (who have completed their COVID vaccination series and at least two weeks has passed since completion) do not need to wear a mask or physically distance in any non-healthcare setting. Federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial laws, rules, and regulations still supersede this guidance, meaning those entities, as well as businesses and workplaces, still have the authority to issue and maintain mask mandates.
As mentioned, this also does not apply to healthcare settings, which follow a different set of CDC guidelines known as Healthcare Infection Prevention and Control Recommendations. As of now, the CDC still maintains previously released guidance regarding mask wearing and physical distancing in healthcare settings. Incident Command continues to monitor all guidance closely, and make changes to CCMH policies as appropriate. As of right now, universal masking is still required in all areas of the facility and clinics, regardless of vaccination status. We hope to be able to update this guidance soon, and continue to encourage team members to get vaccinated in anticipation of relaxed guidelines.
Last week, the FDA and CDC also issued updated guidance on vaccination with the Pfizer vaccine, and eligible individuals now include children ages 12–15 years old. Pharmacy is currently scheduling 12–15 year olds for the vaccine. Parent must be present, and sign a consent form, at time of administration. Please email covid19vax@ccmhhealth.com to request a Pfizer vaccine appointment. The pharmacy will offer weekly appointment times through the end of July. The health department is also offering access to all 3 vaccines.
