Justin Dysart, Rising Star Award Winner
Justin Dysart works for CCMH Home Health Care and has been a physical therapy assistant for 17 years.
On January 26, 2024, Justin was making home PT visits as normal. He arrived at his patient’s house and began his routine PT session. On this day, the session was anything but routine. During the session, the patient became unresponsive, and his breathing became irregular. Justin attempted to arouse the patient. He noticed the patient’s respirations were ceasing and he was unable to find a pulse. Justin immediately went into action by transferring the patient to the floor and beginning chest compressions. He instructed the patient’s wife to call 911. Justin continued chest compressions until EMS arrived. The patient was transported to CCMH for treatment.
This was the first time in Justin’s 17-year career that he was in the situation of resuscitating a patient. He was alone; not able to call a CODE BLUE and have multiple clinical professionals rush to his aide. He was dependent upon his training and his ability to stay cool in a challenging situation. His quick, professional actions were instrumental in allowing this patient’s family members to have additional time with their loved one.
Thank you Justin for your dedication to your patients, to our community, and to CCMH. We are honored to have you on our team.
