CCMH Hospice recently recognized Oran Steward, EMT, for his care and compassion to one of their patients. Oran transported a hospice patient home from the hospital and made sure the patient and spouse had some time together outside before the patient was confined to a bed.
“Oran is an amazing individual and a huge asset to our department and hospital,” said Jamie Hennessee, EMS Director. “We can’t always save a life, but we can make a difference. Oran took the time to listen, to be a guiding light, held her hand and gave memories to that couple. He is upbeat, gives the greatest hugs and is a team player – I’m glad he is part of our team.”
“The patient made a point of telling our Hospice nurse a few days later how kind and compassionate Oran was,” said Sondra Potts, Hospice. “She felt seen, valued, and loved; it made a difference in her and her husband’s lives. We are grateful for Oran’s care that day – I hope he is an inspiration to us all to take a moment to care for someone else.”
